Your Dream – is it still alive?
If you are pursuing your Dream and know what your Purpose in Life is, Congratulations!
Unfortunately, not many people have a Dream anymore. They had one; they knew what they wanted to accomplish; but it got pushed aside.
Fortunately, your Dream – what you wanted to accomplish – is still there. All you have to do is reach out and grasp it again and hold on to it this time!
Think about this – if you are NOT pursuing YOUR Dream, then you are helping someone else go after THEIR Dream. (And their dream may just be to prevent you from fulfilling yours! Ouch!)
We all give in too easily to working on someone else’s dream. We go to school to learn what someone else thinks we should learn. We go to work to help someone else achieve what they want to achieve. We let ourselves get bumped and pushed further and further away from our dreams, from fulfilling our OWN destinies, from doing what WE desire to do, from accomplishing what WE want to accomplish (and know that we are here to accomplish!).
It’s time to rekindle or find YOUR Dream. If you know what your dream is, you need to pursue it. If you lost your dream or realize the dream you had when you were younger is no longer your heart’s desire, then you need to discover – NOW – what it is that you want to do with the rest of your life, what you were put on this earth to accomplish, what contribution YOU can make to better humanity.
I’m asking you – no, insisting to you – to take some time, turn off all the distractions, and find moments of silence so that you can Hear what your heart says is your true purpose.
Is it education, charitable work, creation of something new? No one is going to tell you – you must discover it for itself. This is a matter between you and the Universe!
Once you discover your purpose, your work has just begun! Now you must FOCUS your attention, every day, on your purpose. Just like using a magnifying glass to start a fire in some kindling, it does no good to keep moving the glass around – you have to hold it steady and FOCUS the sunlight on the kindling!
Or, if you want my favorite metaphor, you are a gardner. You must know what you want to harvest. Once you know what crop you want, then you must acquire the appropriate seeds; you must plant those seeds in fertile ground (your mind); you must pull out and keep out the weeds (distractions); you must water those seeds; you must ensure they get enough sunlight; you must keep away the bugs that will destroy the young leaves; you must be ever vigilant and protective of your plants. Only by doing all these things will you see your harvest come to fruition!
Of course, you will need to use tools. Whether it is hoes, rakes, shovels, money, time, or talent, you will need to acquire those as well and put them to use to ensure you reach a healthy harvest.
